Setting: Caemlyn, The Black Tower

Summary[]

Point of view: Elayne Trakand

Elayne arrives at a hill about a thousand paces to the northwest of Caemlyn. She realizes, whilst observing at the damage, that warfare has changed forever with the introduction of the Dragons. Perrin and the Whitecloaks arrive too. The battle plan is to lure the Trollocs out of the city and into the forest where they can fight them more successfully. Bashere argues with Elayne about whether she should tell the men she carries the children of the Dragon Reborn. Using gateways the army of Light fills some of the basements in the city with oil and set them on fire. Watching the burning city, Elayne orders Birgitte to make it known among the Guards the children she carries are Rand al'Thor's.

Point of view: Androl Genhald

Androl, Jonneth, and Emarin are laying down, tied to hooks in the ground and shielded. Pevara and Evin are also tied up and shielded. Evin tells Androl that Taim's men broke him and learned of Androl's plan when they came looking for Emarin. Pevara tells Androl telepathically that they were dug out of the dirt room because Taim hasn't met his quota of Turned Dreadlords yet. Evin is Turned and tells Androl that Nalaam died in the cave-in. Emarin is taken to be Turned next by 13 Myrddraal and Androl thinks that Nalaam was lucky to have died in the cave-in.
