An academy is a school of learning and research. Rand al'Thor started several academies in cities under his control, so that "knowledge would not be lost again," as it was in the Breaking.
Known academies include:
- the School of Cairhien, located in Lord Barthanes's former manor house.
- one in Caemlyn, which Elayne Trakand has taken over and renamed the Academy of the Rose.
