Ander Corl is a bootmaker from Taien, a small town in the eastern end of the Jangai Pass, in Cairhien.

After Couladin and the Shaido Aiel stop and decimate the town of Taien on their way from Alcair Dal to Cairhien, he accompanies his wife, Aril, and her brother, Tal Nethin, in approaching Rand al'Thor and his group on their way into Taien. The three are now refugees from the events in Taien, part of about one hundred survivors from the Shaido's attack. Rand decides to take the refugees with him. [1]
