She is small, about 5'2" tall, with waist-length black hair, black eyes, and a dark complexion, but not so dark as a Domani. Her dark eyes seems almost black when she is concentrating.
Ayako prided herself on her logic, but she was not a particularly cool-appearing woman, rather being on the merry side, with a twinkle in her eyes, although she seemed shy, a rarity among Aes Sedai.
Ayako is a quite strong sister by Aes Sedai standards. Her strength in saidar is at level 18(6) by the description given in "The Wheel of Time Companion"
Ayako is one of the fifty-one sisters, led by Toveine Gazal, sent by Elaida do Avriny a'Roihan to take out the Black Tower. Ayako is the only White sister in that party, the White Ajah insisting on at least one representative. As such, she is not Black Ajah.
They are all captured and bonded by the Asha'man. Ayako is bonded to Donalo Sandomere. She blames Toveine for the failure of the expedition. She took part on beating Toveine and it disturbed her that she had. It was an irrational thing to do that she tried to tell herself, but it felt so right.
She Travels with Sandomere and Logain Ablar to Tear to find Rand al'Thor. She takes part in the battle against the Trollocs that attack Algarin Pendaloan's manor. She is then part of the group that burns all the bodies left behind afterwards.
At the Black Tower both Ayako and Sandomere have been turned to the Shadow. During the Last Battle they fight at the Field of Merrilor with several other Darkfriend Asha'man and sisters of the Black Ajah, including its head, Alviarin Freidhen. Through a clever trap designed by Androl Genhald and Pevara Tazanovni, they are lured into an Ogier stedding, Stedding Sholoon, and taken captive.
She is presumed to be alive and a captive of the Ogier of Stedding Sholoon.
