Lord Baldhere is the Swordbearer to Queen Ethenielle Kirukon Materasu of Kandor.
History[]
As part of his office, he holds the Sword of Kirukan.
Appearance[]
He is slender and has white hair at his temples. He has a biting tongue.
Activities[]
After Ethenielle's husband died, she chose him to command her army in his place.
He accompanies Ethenielle to a meeting with the rest of the Borderland Rulers.
Due to the chaos and devastation in Kandor, Ethenielle - and therefore Baldhere - were not present at the great council on the Field of Merrilor, instead organising the rescue of refugees. Afterwards, they rejoined the other Borderlander rulers at Tarwin's Gap. Baldhere is with Ethenielle as she rides to meet with Lan when Dreadlords join the battle and start pummeling their army with the One Power. Lan orders the retreat of the Gap. Baldhere confronts Lan about Agelmar Jagad making a mistake with Kayen Yokata's cavalry unit. The unit was completely wiped out by Trollocs through a maneuver that Agelmar should have seen. Lan defends Agelmar but promises to watch him.
He assisted Lan Mandragoran in uncovering Hessalam's Compulsion on Lord Agelmar Jagad. It is presumed that Baldhere survived the Last Battle.
Trivia[]
Lan Mandragoran states that Lord Baldhere prefers men over women, making him one of two known homosexual male characters in the series, the other being Lord Algarin Pendaloan.
