Berana Shemon is an Aes Sedai of the White Ajah. She has allied herself with the Salidar Aes Sedai and was elected Sitter in the Rebel Hall of the Tower, despite being too young. She has no Warder.

Appearance and Abilities Edit

She is 5'4 1/2 tall, haughty, with big brown eyes cold as snow and dark brown hair. She looks slim compared to Aledrin and has silver-embroidered white skirts. [1]

Being a Sitter in the Hall means that Berana is also a high ranking sister and a strong channeler by Aes Sedai standards. Thus she had the strength needed to travel.

But this is in contradiction to the level given in "The Wheel of Time Companion" which is 28(16), a very low rank for a Sitter, fifteen levels below Sitters as Romanda and Lelaine and in the same level among sisters otherwise described having only an average strength. This given level is probably a mistake, because a Sitter so young and also so weak in very unlikely.

Berana's true level of strength can be guessed by the time she spent as Novice and Accepted which was in total eigthteen years, roughly the same as sisters that are at level 20(8), in fact the time spent in training usually reflects the strength of an Aes Sedai.

She is described as a fast learner.

Berana is seventy years old, she was born in the year 930 NE and went to the Tower in 947 NE. After spending ten years as Novice and eight as Accepted she was raised to the shawl in the year 965 NE.

As a sitter, she votes "yes" on the Rebel Aes Sedai declaring war on Elaida do Avriny a'Roihan[2], and later, for an alliance with the Black Tower[3].

She is one of the Sitters to re-swear the Three Oaths on the Oath Rod and prove that she is not Black Ajah. She agrees with Egwene's plans to seize every Aes Sedai and make them re-swear the oaths[4]. She is then part of the unanimous vote to attack the White Tower with their army.

She steps down as Sitter after the Tower is re-unified[5].
