So while I've reread individual books before, I'm just now doing a start to finish reread. Half way through The shadow rising I found myself looking forward to Aviendha chapters, something that never happened before. I've kinda taken over her page these last few days, fulling out details and working on some POV and verb tense issues.
Anyone else feel indifferent to characters the first time through but then come to love them later?

Hey everyone Just stopping by, I picked up the audio books for my post AmoL "reread and I am really digging it. I can tell why this was RJ's prefered method to reviewing his work. Anyway, I work in a Grocery store and have to look at Women's magazines all day, I freaked out the other day when I saw this one.

I was like Whoa! it's Moiraine! and then I was sad, because I know no production company in their right mind would actually make the movies. I can dream though...

So, people have made a big deal out of the Asian influences in WOT and that's fair enough, as RJ admitted them, but, as far as I know, no one's mentioned the obvious Norse influence. You've got Mat, who is obviously Odin for various reasons which I wonh't expound on here, you've got Rand al'Thor (obviously) though that, and being a guy who fights evil are about the only similarities between Rand and Thor, and you've got Ragnarok of course. Plus, the Dark One's method of touching the world, at least initially; extremes of heat and cold, seems reminiscent of Muspellheim and Nifilheim. Finally, the Pattern itself could be interpreted as similar to Wyrd, depending on your interpretation of Wyrd, though, of course, RJ has said it was based on …

Hey, MUDders!
A Moment in Tyme has been around since the early 90s and was the first MUD to have Robert Jordan's personal authorization to exist. With almost twenty years of existence, the MUD has seen its highs and lows. And after several years of lows, the publication of the final book has seen a huge upsurge in interest and really brought Tyme back to life.
Currently, there are anywhere from 15 - 35 people on. The timeline of the MUD has been moved and now sits just after Book 10 and the Cleansing of Saidin. There is quite a bit of RP to be had, especially among the White and Black Towers, the Band of the Red Hand, the Wolfkin and the Aiel.
The Imms at a Moment in Tyme would like to invite players, both new and old, to join us in creating …

So I have started updating the Graphic novel content. Let me know what you all think and what can be improved especially you Mainphramephreak as you seem to be the active boss here. Some help would be appreciated. My main purpose is to update some of the art as I can't stand it, with the Graphic novel content. Also how much art is enough on a character page, as some of them seem to be getting cluttered with to many pictures (main characters excluded of course)

So the wheel of time is finally finished. I don't know about anyone else but I felt a sence of loss at the end of it all, like one of your best friends has moved away. Sort of like the feeling when Lost finished (I watched every single episode of that). Afer all I had devoted a significant portion of my life to reading and re-reading the books as well as filling in this (6000 edits). At the end I was confused by some things.
- Why did Mat pull the Seanchan army out. What was the point to it except weakining the forces of Light. Sure they came in at the end but now they have the strongest fighting force in the continent.
- I still don't get why Rand's pipe lit??
- Who was that Aiel lady at the end. I think Aviendha met her in the waste but who was s…

Ok, so I just checked out the Algai'd'siswai page and had a good laugh when i realized that this was taken verbaitem from the WoTRPG core rulebook, including references to other classes in the book. Then I thought about it for a little while. This Wiki already walks a fine line between fair use and copyright infringment, people should at least source their matierial.

As the Wheel of time has now turned, I found myself reflecting on a few things that I felt were never really delt with. The First one is of course...
Now that Grendal has been reveiled as the correct answer, what are the clues? RJ had always thought the answer was obvious and was bemused by our efforts to figure it out.
Grendal, Forsaken killer.
Shaidar Haran says that Grendal is responsable for the deaths of A'san'gar, Messana and Asmodean. She kills Aran'gar when she sheilded her and ran from Rand's super bailfire. She kills Asmo (see above.) How is she responsable for Messana's death? Last I knew, she was comatose in the White Tower.
The Samael Lookalike
RJ had confirmed that Samael dies in Shadar Logoth. At the Forsaken garden party, we lea…

So, came out Monday, and it seems the freaks are coming out as well. People are just adding all kinds of things to the Wiki, I think I read something about Rand healing a Blood Oath between clan chiefs with a Water Oath. Worse is people adding character status' without putting in the information about the what happened. Some people put in accurate info, but I think you still need to hide it with the spoiler tag. Some people havne thad their copy delivered yet :)

At long bloody last, we stand on the final day. No, I don't speak of the Mayan apocolypse which didn't happen or all those that will crop up in the future. I speak of the last day before the release of A Memory of Light, the last day we can all sppeculate of what will await us in the end.
Quite simply, how do you feel on this day? Veterans and newcomers alike, those who took notes, obsessively recording every fact, and those who read carelessly, unaware of all the foreshadowing and surprised when the foretold events occur. Does eagerness fill you as you await the end? Or is a sense of melancholy falling upon you like a blanket?
The answer, I feel, is a mixture of both. We've been through quite a lot, haven't we? The channeling of the Eye, th…

a lot of work. I assumed that since WOT had such a huge following, that most of the work on this wiki would be done. But lots of the chapter summaries remain incomplete. I've decided to start at the beginning, with The Eye of the World and clearing out all the stub chapters. It's 50% done, but man it's time consuming.

Hello all! You may have noticed that we've added a new namespace to the wiki. "Sources" will be a place where we have all of the interactions between the authors and the fans as well as blog posts from the authors and reports from fans. This new namespace will let us keep these articles separate from the main namespace. This will also let us host content that we couldn't otherwise have because of copyrights. As such, forthcoming policy will detail what can be posted in the namespace and how those pages can be edited.
As always, any suggestions will be appreciated! ---- 09:46, October 18, 2012 (UTC)

Hi everyone. I've been away for a few weeks working on a separate project and that project is about complete so I have time to spend working on my second most favorite pastime--editing this Wiki.
Just before I Ieft, however, I had the very bad grace to stir up a frenzy of posts regarding the Janine Pavlara page. I had two strong objections regarding the article as it was then written and I made my feelings known. Probably in as disagreeable way as was possible and for that I apologize. In the end I agreed that my first disagreement was probably a really stupid claim on my part and withdrew the objection (I objected to the assertion that the Aes Sedai did something because the text did not say outright that they did something, yet when I …

So there I was in a bookstore around 1995 and there's 4 BIG fantasy books in a series, just they type of thing I like. So I dive in, was just off on a vacation too. Well, I got about half way through the 4th book and I said oh, oh. This isn't going to finish. So, I hit the bookstore again and nothing. A different book store - and there it is - Book 5. Naturally, by about 1/3rd of the way through I could tell this wasn't going to be the end either. A bit of research and I found book 6 was due out in a couple of weeks. Hurray! Cover of that said it was book 6 of 8. Well, we know how that turned out.
And where did the "Arado" come from. Way back in EverQuest I picked this from ARAgorn and froDO.

I've decided to undertake a major effort to improve the WoT wiki. I'm not a very literary writer, since I tend towards concise and factual statements from my career in business. But I am much better at picking out the names and otehr references from the books. A superior aid I have for this effort is full text of the books (at least through book 11 right now) that I scanned in, fixed up and divided up by chapter. That will allow me to carefully read the text, and highlight terms that should go into the wiki.
I'll also try some other things now and then, but I'm not very well versed in some update processes, especially footnotes. If I really feel the need I'll dig into this some more.
Hopefully, if I can keep up with a couple of chapters a da…

I have made several entries to existing articles in the last two weeks that indicate that I have searched the series for a particular word or phrase and have not been able to find that word or phrase in any of the 14 books, and so have placed a tag in the article in question (see Amira Moselle as an example). What have I been doing to conduct this search? I have been using my laptop, the Kindle e-reader program, and e-reader copies of all fourteen books published so far in the series (including New Spring). The Kindle e-reader has a search capability that lists all occurrances of a word, partial word, or phrase, if so requested. Each book, however, has to be called up in turn to be searched (i.e. there is no batch-search capability), a…

I know that when writing an article about one person, event or location, it is necessary to include a small amount of information about other persons, events or locations to highlight the significance of the individual/event/location and their interaction with the main subject, but the extra info pertaining to other than the main subject should be kept to a minimum, and such other information as may be worthy of capturing in this wiki should be put in the primary article of that other subject.
This topic arose as I edited the Logain Ablar page of this Wiki. Though the article was about Logain, it included a large amount of info about Mezar Kurin, a former close supporter, how he was turned, and included info about how the "13X13 trick" mi…

Note that this is only my personal guess of what will happen in A Memory of Light. Nothing here should be taken as a fact or solid information of what actually will happen. This won't fulfill all of the prophesies or expectations of the book. However, this will fulfill many of the large unknown prophesies, such as "He shall hold a blade of light in his hands, and the three shall be one."
First, Rand will discuss his plans with Egwene and the rest of the armies engulfing the Field of Merrilor, and eventually convinces them all that it is necessary to break the seals. Next, Moiraine will Travel to the Field of Merrilor. She will meet with Rand, talk for a short time, then Rand will choose her for the second person to be linked with him in the …

I'm trying to earn the "Two Weeks on the Wiki" badge, and I live in US Central Time. Sometimes, it accepts my edits and adds a day to the counter when I've spent more than 24 hours between edits, and sometimes when I've spent less, it resets. Does anyone know what time the wiki uses (in terms of UTC/Greenwich Mean Time would be helpful, as I have that clock on my computer)?

Anyone (on this site) ever thought of Demandred being Jarid Sarand? This idea was posted at Theoryland.com, but so short ago there weren't any review's when I saw it. He fits perfectly in what RJ (or maybe BS) said about he was mentioned, but did not appear already. BTW, on Theoryland most people think Demandred has done more than getting one army behind him, and I think that's good possible. Asha'man Leyrann Gaidin 17:55, May 29, 2011 (UTC)

I know that this wiki is pretty lax with documentation, but I believe that it is essential if we would like to have accurate, comprehensive articles. Properly documenting articles takes time, but it helps with issues that may be confusing or in dispute. Documenting your articles also helps provide a starting point for another user who wishes to add to the article or create an article for a related topic or a "wanted page.Joedmd 16:57, February 4, 2011 (UTC)

As I'm sure everyone knows, Universal bought the rights to the Wheel of Time: the Eye of the World. Beyond this I do not know much more. I saw on IMDB that they said something about a 2011 release date, but for a movie of this size, i find it unlikely that we wouldn't have heard much more about it.
My main problem is that Hollywood tends to warp the book-to-film genre a great deal in order to make it fit the time restraints (HP series, LotR, take your pick) and with books that are so in depth and long running it looks like its going to be a feat. There is also the issue with all the nudity that is involved in this series which they would most likely edit out so the under age kids could watch as well. For key scenes such as Egwene being rais…

So, after seeing User:Mariecurie7's work on mirror/archiving the blog posts (which is great work btw), I thought hmmm, surely this shouldnt be 'polluting' the main namespace, since its not 'in-universe'. So I was thinking they should be moved to a different namespace (a word before a `:` in a page title), and maybe gain a better naming scheme. After checking the Blog: namespace, and finding it particularly useless for such a task, I converged on the thought that RJ: would work best (though other suggestions are welcome), and that the name of each page in this 'namespace' (which isnt technically a namespace, unless the admins can add custom ones?) would be EITHER (as in TBD) the full title, or the publication date.
And on the same vein, the Questi…

I recently just re read the Eye of the World and i noticed something odd. I didn't notice it the first time i read it because i didn't know who jain was. But Ba'alzamon who in one of the last chapters says "whom i painted like a fool and sent to the ogier thinking he was rid of me." This raises the question in my mind whether Jain is a darkfriend or not?
If Jain is a darkfriend, or an "ex-darkfriend" we must consider the possibility that Noal his cousin is one as well. Not because being a darkfriend is a hereditory trait, merely because it may well be jain himself.
Just wanted to throw this out there.

It seems appropriate given both that it's one of the last in a series and of course given the name lol.

Machin Shin is the entity that roams the ways, corrupting all those that it comes into contact with and ultimately driving those people insane. I've read the theories about how Machin Shin was created yet there remains one theory that nobody has seem to mention. Aridhol. Aridhol had a waygate and when Aridhol became corrupted and fell another entity was created. Mashadar. Now during the trolloc wars the ways became corrupted with the entity known as Machin Shin but it was never explained if that perhaps a part of Mashadar had seeped into the ways through the waygate in Aridhol. It could have been possible that trollocs or an army of the darkone were seeking refuge of the ways from Mashadar and in the process a part of Mashadar was tr…
