The Blood

The Blood are those of Seanchan nobility. They were originally the descendants of those sent with Luthair, the son of Artur Hawkwing. Gradually, more and more among the native population of Seanchan were raised to the Blood. It is nearly impossible to lose this status but it can be bestowed upon someone for great service, if the Empress judges the person worthy.
Members of the Blood have highly codified rules regarding appearance, extending from various haircuts and lacquered fingernails.
[edit] Seanchan High Lords and Ladies
There seem to be very few members of the Blood that are bestowed this title. It is also unsure how this title is bestowed or if it is hereditary. Those mentioned in the series so far have been:
- High Lady Suroth Sabelle Meldarath - Stripped of her titles by Tuon.
- High Lord Turak Aladon - Killed by Rand in single combat.
- High Lady Tuon - The name and title assumed by the Daughter of the Nine Moons as part of her disguise.
At present there are no known High Lords/Ladies of Seanchan who have retained their titles and their life.
