Bulen was a boy from the Aesdaishar Palace.

History

He was Kandori but his father was from Malkier.

Appearance

As a boy he was gangly. As a man his arms were thick and strong. He had black hair and had tanned skin.

Activities

He was assigned to be Lan Mandragoran's errand boy during the Aiel War.[1]

More than twenty years later, Bulen intercepted Lan in the Proska Flats in Saldaea. He asked Lan for the honor to wear the hadori and permission to fight at his side.[2] At first Lan moved to leave him behind, but Bulen talked Lan into letting him accompany him as long as they travelled in secret. They were approached by three riders when they got to the Plain of Lances. Andere, Nazar Kurenin and Rakim all decided to travel in front of Lan. Lan finally accepted them into his company and the two became five. He was nearby when Weilin Aldragoran and his company arrived in Lan's camp and joined his company.

Bulen was mortally wounded during a stint on the front line at Tarwin's Gap, while participating in the stalling tactics employed by The Armies of the Light. The mail at his side being described as "ripped like a sail that has seen too much wind". He successfully hid his wounds from Lan Mandragoran by covering them with his coat. After retreating from the front, having received relief from Kandori and Arafellin toops, Bulen was seen sagging in his saddle by Lan, before slipping from his horse. Lan dismounts and runs to his first follower, discovering the extent of Bulens wounds. Bulen was dead as he hit the ground. Lan instructs Narishma the Asha'man to Travel with Bulen's corpse to a cold place, so as to allow a proper burial once Malkier was reclaimed.
