She is described as stout, but graceful. She had wide shoulders and arms as thick as most men's.

She was fairly weak in the One Power.
She was novices for two years with Zarya Alkaese.
She had three Warders, Cieryl Arjuna, Venr Kosaan and Tavan.
She has been Aes Sedai for more than fifty years.

She was part of the Salidar Aes Sedai and was sent to Ebou Dar as part of their embassy. She acted as the Seat of Pardon when Merilille decided to put Elayne on trial for her discovery of the Kin.
She Traveled with the the group led by Nynaeve al'Meara and Elayne from Ebou Dar to the Kin's farm with the Bowl of the Winds.
It was Careane who revealed her face at the Kin's farm, resulting in the panic and flight of many of the women there.
Careane was identified as Black Ajah and the murderer of Adeleas Namelle and Ispan Shefar. Vandene Namelle killed her as punishment for the murder of her sister.
