Haman son of Dal son of Morel is an Elder of Stedding Shangtai.

Appearance[]

He is tall and white-haired with drooping, white mustaches and a long narrow beard that hung to his chest.[1] He is around 10'5" or 318 cm tall with a broad build. He has eyes as large and round as teacups, a broad nose that almost covered his face and ears, tipped with white tufts, which stuck up through his hair.[2][3] His voice is like rumbling thunder and grave in tone.[2]

History[]

Haman was born well over three hundred years ago.[1] His father is Dal and his grandfather was Morel.[2]

When he as young, Haman and Loial's father met the Green Man.[4] He is more accostumed to being Outside than any Ogier save the stonemasons.[5]

He is married to Voniel, Covril's sister, making him Loial's uncle.[3]

He is one of the Council of Elders of Stedding Shangtai.[3]

Haman was Loiai's teacher and he did not think highly of Loail's scholarship and study habits.[3] He also thinks Loail is much too hasty and has no sense at all.[6] Besides Loial, he has other classes and pupils.[2]

Haman thinks Cairhienin see a plots in everything and that Galldrian Riatin was a disgrace.[7][8]

Activities[]

He walks from his stedding when he is "persuaded" by Covril to go with her in the search for Loial. They stop in Caemlyn where Rand al'Thor tells them that he is now in the Two Rivers. After helping Rand find all the Waygates on a map, goes with him to Shadar Logoth in which he helps Rand find the Waygate there. Rand then takes them via a Gateway to just outside Emond's Field.[2]

He finally found Loial at Algarin Pendaloan's mansion in Tear. There he wed Loial and Erith in a private ceremony.[1] Immediately after the wedding, there was an attack by Trollocs, and it is implied that he might have participated in the battle. He then sets off and leaves Loial to talk at the Great Stump, while he sets off to seal all the other Waygates Rand al'Thor hasn't managed to do yet.[5]

Haman and his people at the conclusion of the Great Stump arrive at the Field of Merrilor. There they are greeted by Great Trees that Rand grew during his signing of the Dragon's Peace. The Ogier pledge their support to fight with humans at Tarmon Gai'don.[9] Haman and the rest of the Ogier fight with Queen Elayne Trakand's army in the Last Battle. There, the Ogier sing a terrifying death song, hacking fiercely at Trollocs around them. The Trollocs begin to fear the sight of the Ogier.[10][11]
