Hammer was the Gaidin Blademaster in charge of training the new Warder to be with a sword, in the White Tower.

He is said to be solid and shaped like a block of stone, with a gravelly voice to match.

He encourages Galadedrid Damodred and Gawyn Trakand to fight Matrim Cauthon who is armed with a quarterstaff to teach them a lesson on combat. Gawyn slays Hammar trying to free Siuan Sanche shortly after she was stilled and deposed as Amyrlin.

Hammar was a blademaster and owner of a Heron-marked sword.^[1]
