Help talk:Shortcut

From A Wheel of Time Wiki

[edit] Prefix

Before we get too much further into this, let's thinkabout it... what are these for? Where should they go? Right now the template assumes they ALL will be sent to Wotwiki:, which may not be true (what about STYLE -> Help:Style Guide?

I also just realized that making them at NAV, STYLE, CI, etc, just inflates/clutters our article space. On the other hand, making them at Wotwiki:STYLE kind of reduces the point of shortcuts, doesn't it? Wikipedia uses WP:ABBR I believe, but we don't have an easily memorizable shortcut...WW:? Bleah - maybe the whole shortcut setup isn't worth the hassle. I'm willing to forgo it... nae'blis (talk) 23:18, 25 Oct 2005 (UTC)

I really, really wish there was a way to have shortcuts ignored from Article space/calculations. For many reasons. --Gherald 23:24, 25 Oct 2005 (UTC)
WOT makes perfect sense to me... --Maru (talk) Contribs 20:11, 20 Nov 2005 (UTC)

[edit] pointless

Is anyone actually interested in using these? On Wikipedia, they're helpful, because there's 1784395923452 help/project pages. Over here, they seem like more trouble than they are worth... I'm willing to remove all evidence of them from the site, if no one has a strong objection (since I brought them over originally, in a fit of pseudo-cleverness). nae'blis (talk) 22:46, 18 Nov 2005 (UTC)

*shrug* -- I use cs and ci --Gherald 23:02, 18 Nov 2005 (UTC)
Sure, they are not used now, but later they might be. --Maru (talk) Contribs 20:11, 20 Nov 2005 (UTC)
