[edit] History
In Ebou Dar, Mat meets an elderly man named Noal Charin,[1] who accompanies him on his travels. Noal claims to have been Jain's cousin, though many fans believe he is Jain himself. So far, there is no conclusive proof either way; the final books may settle the issue.
Jain Charin is credited with bringing Cowin Gemallan, called Fairheart, the betrayer of Malkier and a Darkfriend, before the Great Lords of the Seven Towers. Gemallen had been instrumental in arranging the downfall of Malkier.
Noal accuses Jain of leaving his wife to die alone while he was on his adventures[2].
In some of the books, his name is spelt "Jaim".
