Janduin was the clan chief of the Taardad Aiel.

He was of the Iron Mountain sept of the Taardad Aiel

He was the clan chief who led the four clans to the Westlands in the Aiel War.

He and Tigraine Mantear are the biological parents of Rand al'Thor.

During the Aiel War Tigraine, then calling herself Shaiel was with child and died giving birth to Rand. Janduin could not forgive himself and went into the blight hunting Trollocs and Myrddraal. It was said he was killed by a man who looked like Tigriane, undoubtedly Luc Mantear/Slayer. Janduin didn't even raise his spear to defend himself.
