Janwin is the clan chief of the Shiande Aiel.

His clan joins Rand al'Thors forces after the Shaido seige of Cairhien. He now occupies Cairhien. When Rand was kidnapped by White Tower Aes Sedai the bleakness hits his clan hard. Rand uses Merana Ambrey as a servant to convince Janwin that he is not an Aes Sedai puppet in the hope Janwin will continue to support him.
