Kandor is one of the four Borderland nations which lie on the threshold of the Great Blight, sitting between Saldaea to the west and Arafel to the east. The sign of Kandor is a rearing red horse on a field of pale green.
The nation of Kandor was formed early in the War of the Hundred Years. The governors of Hawkwing's five northern provinces met and agreed to form stable nations to preserve the peace and defend against the Blight. Jarel Soukovni was the first King of Kandor.
Kandor has a long history of participating in the trade of furs, and fox skins from Kandor are highly prized.
Kandori surnames often have a Slavic-inspired tone to them, often ending in the endings -vna and -vni. Some names are East Asian-inspired, such as Noramaga and Shukosa, a trait common across the Borderlands, but particularly in Shienar.
Certain indications imply that a child with parents of different nationality take on the nationality of their mother.
Kandor is the home of a powerful merchants' guild, and many affluent merchants have their origins there. Master merchants wear three silver chains across their chest.
The government body of Kandor is a monarchy, with the seat of power called the Throne of the Clouds. The throne is currently held by Queen Ethenielle. The throne is located in the Aesdaishar Palace in the capital, Chachin.
