A Wheel of Time Wiki

Marris Thornhill is an Aes Sedai of the Brown Ajah from Andor. She is also Black Ajah and is part of a Heart along with Atuan Larisett and Karale Sanghir.

Appearance[]

Marris is described as being plump-chinned. She usually seemed mild and absorbed in her studies.

Strength[]

Marris is one of the weakest Aes Sedai with a One Power strength level of 44(32). She is the second weakest known Aes Sedai, just one level above Daigian Moseneillin and so at the bottom of the hierarchy.

History[]

Marris' history is not given in the books or Companion, although some details may be inferred. Her lack in strength means she would have spent a long time in training. Daigian, of similar strength, was in training for forty eight years whereas two other weak Aes Sedai, Bennae Nalsad and Cariandre Temalien were in training for twenty-four and twenty-five years respectively. Marris is considerably weaker than these two, however. Her connection with Leane Sharif and Elin Warrel may indicate they were in training together, but this is less certain.

She spends long periods in the White Tower itself.[1]

She has no Warder.

Activities[]

Faolain Orande is sent to Marris to be punished by Leane Sharif.

Yukiri Haruna encounters Marris, Doraise Mesianos and Elin Warrel escorted by Doraise's Warder in the corridor and notes that they show her a distinct lack of respect, especially towards a Sitter.

She was discovered and broken by the Black Ajah hunters, and then she was forced to swear on the Oath Rod obedience to Yukiri and the rest of the Black Ajah-hunting sisters. She is adamant that she now walks in the Light again. She is part of a Heart along with Atuan Larisett and Karale Sanghir.

After her interrogation, the Black Ajah Hunters reached a problematic stalemate in their task, since Marris' contact outside of her Heart was with the Rebel Aes Sedai.

Her fate is undisclosed. There exists the possibility that she was one of the sisters that managed to escape the Tower, though her Oaths to the Black Ajah hunters may have prevented her flight. If that is the case, she would have been executed with the rest of the Black sisters unable to escape.
