[edit] Background
Morgase first entered the White Tower at age 14, according to custom (and despite the fact that she could barely channel at all), and returned to Andor less than two years later to lay claim to the Lion Throne following Daughter-Heir Tigraine Mantear's disappearance in 972 NE. She married Taringail Damodred in order to solidify her claim to the throne, and after his death briefly took Thom Merrilin as her lover. She has been a fair and capable ruler, with a soft spot for the less fortunate.
[edit] Activities
[edit] Meeting Rand
Rand al'Thor accidentally falls into her gardens in the Royal Palace and is escorted to her by Martyn Tallanvor. While there Elaida do Avriny a'Roihan who is her Aes Sedai adviser has a Foretelling about Rand. Elaida wishes Rand to remain behind to be questioned further, but Morgase takes pity on one of her subjects and lets him go free.
[edit] Compulsion
Morgase comes to the White Tower and finds that her daughter is missing which makes her furious. She refuses to take back Elaida as her advisor. Galad and Gawyn manage to talk their way out of being taken out of the White Tower by her.
Morgase later became besotted with Gaebril (supposedly a Lord from western Andor), who became her advisor and lover (now revealed as Rahvin of the Forsaken who was using Compulsion to have Morgase do whatever he wanted). Under his influence, she exiled many of her most loyal supporters (including Gareth Bryne, her former Captain-General), but upon hearing of the revolt in the Two Rivers region she regained enough control to flee with her nurse Lini, her Guardsman-Lieutenant Tallanvor, and the fiercely loyal innkeeper Basel Gill.
[edit] To the Whitecloaks
She fled to Amadicia to try to gain assistance from King Ailron. Pedron Niall took her from Ailron's Palace and held her captive in the Fortress of the Light. She plotted with Paitr Conel and his uncle to be smuggled out of the castle, but after she was forced to witness Conel's hanging, these plans were foiled. She finally accepted an alliance with the Children of the Light which would send them into Andor to take back her Throne. A garrison would be allowed to remain in Andor but outside of Andor Law. Her abdication put her daughter Elayne's succession to the Lion Throne of Andor in considerable question. Her later decision to rescind all rights to the throne, while being held captive in Amadicia, was made so that she could allow Elayne to ascend to the throne with or without her help.
She is later beaten by Rhadam Asunawa and then forced to lie with Eamon Valda after Pedron is murdered. Soon the Seanchan attacks the Fortress of the Light and defeat the Whitecloaks. Morgase is taken to the High Lady Suroth Sabelle Meldarath and told to either swear an oath or become a servant. Sebban Balwer later arrives and helps Morgase and her followers escape from the Seanchan and leave Amadicia.
[edit] Abdication and Kidnapping
Under the name Maighdin Dorlain, she traveled to Ghealdan, where her group was harassed by the followers of the Prophet of the Dragon, Masema Dagar. They were rescued by Perrin Aybara and she swore fealty to him and Faile. She was subsequently captured again by the Shaido Aiel. She tries to escape and is strapped for the attempt. She is asked to spy on Sevanna by Therava.
She later tries to steal the Oath Rod for Galina Casban from Therava's tent but is caught and beaten. Later she is left for dead by the Black Ajah Aes Sedai Galina. It was only through her training in the One Power that she was able to help save herself, Faile and others from a collapsing building. Morgase and her party were then rescued from the Shaido by Perrin Aybara. She drinks some of the water dosed with Forkroot and has to be carried out. Perrin is still unaware of her true identity.

When Tam al'Thor is brought from Perrin's army to help with Rand, he mentions that Morgase's true identity has been revealed. Given Rand's rainbow vision of Perrin with Galad, it is likely Galad met up with the Perrin's army and, one way or another, triggered the revelation. |
