“Ramshalan was particularly annoying because of his nasal voice an eager willingness to betray others in his desire to curry favor with Rand.”
—The Gathering Storm, Chapter 31
ActivitiesWhile in attendance in Rand's throne room in Bandar Eban, Ramshalan called for Milisair Chadmar to be executed. Rand noted his opportunistic and sycophantic enthusiasm. Ramshalan once boasted to Lords Vivian and Callswell that he could manipulate Rand however he wished. When Rand located and went after Graendal, he called upon Lord Ramshalan, flattering the courtier by asking for thoughts on how to outthink and defeat an enemy that is both slippery and more clever than him. Ramshalan advises an alliance, since anyone that powerful would make a better friend than foe. Rand, giving the impression that he found Ramshalan's insight clever and valuable, appointed Ramshalan as an emissary to make allies with Domani bloodborn and merchant families. The "assignment" began immediately as Ramshalan was sent through a gateway to country manor with instructions to gain allegience. In actuality, Rand sent Ramshalan to Graendal, knowing she would place the so-called emissary under compulsion both to extract information about Rand and to use the man in some way against Rand. Upon Ramshalan's return to Rand and his party, Nyneave confirmed presense of Graendal's touch in the form of heavy Compulsion weaves. After obliterating Graendal's palace with balefire, Rand used Ramshalan as a way to determine that Graendal was truly dead - more acurately burned from the Pattern - since the weaves of Compulsion had vanished as if they had never existed. | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
