The Shae'en M'taal is an Aiel warrior society. The name means "Stone Dogs" in the Old Tongue.
Role[]
Shae'en M'taal are often used as rear guards.[1][2] They also vow not to retreat once battle has begun and will perish to the last to meet this vow.[3]
Activities[]
A six-man team of Shae'en M'taal, including Gaul, guarded Rand al'Thor's quarters in the Stone of Tear.[4] Shae'en M'taal once guarded Hadnan Kadere's wagons as they traveled through the Three Fold Land.[5] All of the societies, including the Shae'en M'taal, accompanied Rand al'Thor from the Sun Palace in Cairhien to Caemlyn in Andor to battle Rahvin and his forces.[6] Shae'en M'taal, along with Far Dareis Mai and Seia Doon are very touchy about ji'e'toh.[7][8]
