Talk:Shayol Ghul

Back to page

Origin Edit

Does anyone think the term "shayol" might come from Cordwainer Smith? I haven't seen the term anywhere else, and the timeframe is right- Jordan was fairly young at the time Smith was publishing. --Maru (talk) Contribs 19:39, 21 Nov 2005 (UTC)

I always figured it was a play on the biblical Sheol, or Hell... never read CS though, and no real clue about the "Ghul" part (which I can never spell reliably). nae'blis (talk) 20:59, 21 Nov 2005 (UTC)

Just a random wondering about the description of 'Shayol Ghul'.

"...of idyllic tropical island paradise and vacation spot"

Is the vacation spot theory backed by any writing of reference? I know this is probably covered by "The World of Robert Jordan's The Wheel of Time" book, but I don't have it with me, so I can't verify.

Previous nameEdit

i am wondering why the previous name ofV'saine is not mentioned as that is where the bore was created so it makes sense for it to be the place closest to the bore as shayol ghul is called.Doonval ti bekk'har 05:08, December 19, 2011 (UTC)
