A Wheel of Time Wiki
"The White Tower has become a dangerous place. There have been deaths - murders - with no real explanations. Even some Aes Sedai have been killed, though they have tried to keep that quiet. And I have heard rumors of the Black Ajah, spoken in the Tower itself. By Mother's command, when it is safe for you to leave your training, we are to return you to Caemlyn."

Summary[]

Point of view: Egwene al'Vere

Elayne is waiting in Nynaeve's room with Gawyn and Galad when Egwene and Nynaeve arrive. Egwene thinks again how handsome Galad is. They have been worried over the absence of Egwene, Elayne, and maybe even Nynaeve. The men ask them where they went but receive no answer. They say that Morgase ordered them to bring Elayne home after Elayne finishes training. They offer their help whenever the women want it. Nynaeve finally forces them to leave by threatening to report them to their arms master.

Gawyn is besotted with Egwene, Elayne says, but defers to Galad since Galad saved his life once. Galad will never do anything against the rules, which Elayne views as being horrid. Nynaeve tells Elayne what the Amyrlin told them, starting with the Black Ajah and their task to hunt them. She also tells her about the Gray Man that almost killed her and Egwene. Nynaeve says the Amyrlin may let Mat die. Aes Sedai may view all of them as tools and sometimes tools break. Nynaeve decides that she may need to try Healing Mat herself and brings out her herbs. They discuss linking to increase the power of the Healing. Just as they are about to leave to try, the door bangs open and Elaida walks in.
