Setting: Mountains of Mist

Point of view: Perrin Aybara

Lan wakes Perrin and says Rand is gone. Perrin is very hungry lately, an effect of being healed. He really wants raw meat. Masema thinks they did something to anger the Dragon, and he abandoned them but Perrin reassures him that this was Rand's plan. Perrin, Min and Moiraine are in Moiraine’s room. Everyone seems to be blaming everyone else for Rand’s disappearance. Min gave Perrin a note Rand wrote. He says he is not letting more die for him, so he’s running away. Perrin says he would not have proclaimed himself the Dragon if not for Moiraine. He got past the guards because they would do anything the Dragon tells him. Moiraine worries about dangers Rand is not aware of.  The seals on the dark one’s prison are weakening. What if the Forsaken are waiting for him, Moiraine said. Perrin mutters about Rand’s dreams and Moiraine makes him tell her about his dreams. Apparently Rand's dreams are being broadcast so that others have the same dreams. Someone could be manipulating Rand's dreams of Callandor to lure him to take it. They know Rand is going to Tear now. The Shienarans are being sent to Jehannah in Ghealdan since most are too wounded to participate in the chase. Moiraine says Min should go to Tar Valon, as the Amyrlin has to know that everyone else is going to Tear. Just Moiraine, Lan, Loial and Perrin will pursue Rand.

Before they leave, Min takes Perrin aside and tells him of viewings she had of him since his decision to go was made.

  • an Aielman in a cage
  • a Tuatha'an with a sword
  • A falcon and a hawk, perching on your shoulders, both female

She also warns him to run if he encounters the most beautiful woman he has ever seen, but this just confuses him now and later. Perrin finally deduces that Min is in love with Rand.
