"You can't go before the Amyrlin Seat dressed like a groom fresh out of the stables, sheepherder. Let me see your boots. They'll do. Well, get on with it, get on with it. You don't keep the Amyrlin waiting. Wear your sword."

Setting: Fal Dara, Shienar

Point of view: Moiraine Damodred
Leane, Verin, Moiraine and the Amyrlin are putting their efforts together to help Mat.  Verin says the dagger has been separated from him for only a short period of time, so there is no way to tell if he will get better without it. Mat still needs healing, but the dagger he had is missing. He will be sick until they find and return the dagger. Mat himself can retrieve and hold the dagger but anyone else who touches it will be subject to its effects.
Verin tells the Amyrlin what was written on the walls in the dungeon:
Daughter of the night, she walks again, blood feeds blood, blood calls blood.
The rest sounds like prophecy and is written in the form of a poem, stating, The time of change has come, and the man who channels stands alone.  Verin guesses that the reason the boys Moiraine travels with are there is that one of them is the Dragon, as she knows one of them can channel and has not been gentled.  Suian and Moiraine want as few people as possible to know that they were searching for the Dragon and may have found him, so they ward the doors and windows of the room and make Verin tell them what she knows of their search.
Point of view: Perrin Aybara
Perrin is in the infirmary, sitting next to Mat.  He recalls the night before, when he was in the gardens and Aes Sedai were watching him.  Mat remembers Egwene telling him to come to the dungeon and see Fain with her.  Leane comes in then and notices Perrin's eyes again, also noticing that he is healthy, and he feels her use the Power on him.  He picks her up and moves her out of his way, then exits the room.
Point of view: Rand al'Thor
Perrin comes back to the room he shares with Rand.  He changes his shirt and asks Rand if they will alll leave the city together.  Rand disappoints Perrin when he says he must leave without them.  Rand feels better about leaving once Perrin says Mat is all right.  Lan comes in to tell Rand the Amyrlin wishes to see him, and makes him change his clothes.
