—Nynaeve; a saying
|<<< Winds Rising >>>|
|Setting: Aboard the Wavedancer'|
Point of view: Elayne Trakand
Elayne and Nynaeve are aboard the Wavedancer. They scramble to get on deck after the ship pitches and heaves. Elayne looks to the Stone, believing Rand has caused this, while all around others shout about earthquakes. Suddenly she notices Thom and Juilin on deck. Coine returns and says the ship is not damaged. As Elayne examines Thom, she has a feeling of familiarity with him but is also sure she never saw him before he appeared in the Stone.
Elayne questions the men on why they wish to go to Tanchico. Juilin says a tall, stone-faced man, clearly Lan, told him to accompany them. Thom tells them he was asked by the Lady that found them in Emond's Field. Nynaeve says they may come along, but only if they agree to obey.
They leave Tear and make for the Sea of Storms. Once the ship is well away from land, all the women take off their blouses. Elayne and Juilin have a hard time trying to figure out where to look or not look. Elayne talks to Thom and is sure if she can make him laugh, she will remember where she has seen him before. Elayne suddenly leaves Thom at the bow when she feels a great amount of channeling occurring toward the stern of the ship. Jorin is channeling air and water, very intricately too. She ties off the weave so that it will continue until morning.
Jorin tells Elayne that they try to avoid Aes Sedai to avoid their interference. She expects they can make it to Tanchico in ten days, perhaps even sooner. Elayne asks Jorin to teach her to weave the winds.
