Setting: Aiel Waste

Summary

Point of view: Aviendha

Aviendha arrives in the Aiel Waste. Rather than Travel straight to Rhuidean, she had run for a large portion of the way. As Aviendha settles for the night she spots a lady outside her camp dressed in Aiel garb. The lady asks to join her and tells Aviendha that her name is Nakomi. Nakomi asks about Rand and the Wetlands. Aviendha believes the wetlands are very dangerous. Nakomi believes that the Aiel have been shaped in the Three-Fold land to face these dangers. Aviendha tells Nakomi that the Aiel will meet their toh for breaking their oath, by fighting in Tarmon Gai'don. Nakomi asks if the Three-Fold land is the Aiel punishment, then what is the point returning to it if they have meet their toh. Aviendha has no answer. Nakomi leaves to go toilet. Aviendha ponders the point to the Aiel after the Last Battle. What do they do? What is their purpose? She realizes Nakomi is not coming back
