Point of view: Lan Mandragoran

Lan is near the border of Kandor and Saldaea. Bulen now travels beside Lan, where they travel mostly at night so as not to be seen. They approach a group of three men. Bulen notices that two of them where the Hadori. As Lan approaches them, the three, Nazar Kurenin, Rakim and Andere ride out and pass Lan. Lan nonplussed asks them to stop following him, to which they reply that they are actually ahead of him. However, if a king ordered them, they would obey. Lan flatly tells them that there is no king to a fallen kingdom. Lan tries to persuade them to not ride to their deaths, to which Rakim replies that death is lighter than a feather. Lan concedes and the two become five.

Point of view: Galad Damodred

Galadedrid Damodred sits inside his tent while his officers report to him. The Children of the Lights captives [1] told them where the army would be. Reports say that the flag of Ghealdan and Mayene fly, although the wolfhead banner was taken down the previous day, confirming that Perrin Aybara is within the camp. Jaret Byar tells Galad that Perrin killed Dain's father and that he is from the Two Rivers, where they met previously[2]. Galad asks for a full report on Perrin.

Point of view: Perrin Aybara

Perrin has camped his army by the Jehannah Road, contemplating the emergence of the Whitecloak army might be linked to his vision of wolves chasing sheep to the edge of a cliff. He eats breakfast with Gaul seated on the floor.

Point of view: Galad Damodred

Byar informs Galad that the Children fought Trollocs in the Two Rivers, confirming that he is in fact Shadowspawn and that his men were run out of the Two Rivers. Galad wonders if it is coincidence or something more that has led his army to Perrin now. Oratar and Bornhald can confirm this as well as Perrin being at Falme.

Gaul reports to Perrin that the Whitecloaks have Gill and the other refugees. The Lord Captain Commander is also present within the camp.

Galad in now determined to bring Perrin to justice.

Perrin wonders if this being Ta'veren at work. Gaul confirms that their army is larger than the Whitecloaks.

Galad makes the choice to move against Perrin's army.

Perrin is unsure what to do. He decides to send more scouts and properly investigate the camp and offer parley. However, he will not leave Gill and the others to the Whitecloaks.
