Towers of Midnight (book)
From A Wheel of Time Wiki
Towers of Midnight is the name of the thirteenth and penultimate volume of The Wheel of Time series. The working title Shifting Winds was adopted for a time[1], but the name was replaced at Brandon Sanderson's urging in September 2009[2].
[edit] Title significance
The title can be taken as a literal reference to the Towers of Midnight fortress-complex in Imfaral (a city in Seanchan), which has thirteen towers and is thus a reference to the number of the book. It may also hint that the Seanchan plot-thread is resolved in this volume ahead of the Last Battle, which is expected to be the focus of the final two volumes. Other references, including less-literal ones to perhaps the Black and White Towers, are also possible.
