Winespring Inn
From A Wheel of Time Wiki
The Winespring Inn is an inn in Emond's Field, owned by Bran al'Vere. It stands on the east end of the Green, beside the Wagon Bridge and near the source of the Winespring Water. Bran's wife Marin is the inn's cook.
The first floor of the inn is river rock, though the foundation is of older stone from the mountains. The foundation continues south of the inn proper and is apparently the remnants of an older, larger structure, dated to some two thousand years ago. A large oak now grows out of these ruins.
The second floor is whitewashed and juts out over the lower floor all the way around. It has a red tiled roof, and was the first non-thatched roof in the village. It has a dozen chimneys. Bran al'Vere lives with his family at the back of the second floor (although in TDR 49, Mat remembers them as living "at the front of the second floor.")
The Winespring Inn is the meeting place for the Emond's Field Village Council and, as one of the largest and most stout buildings in the area, is a natural defensive point. It is the focal point for many celebrations in the village.
For a long time the only inn in the village, the recent increase in size of the town due to the influx of refugees from Almoth Plain, Tarabon, Arad Doman and Ghealdan has seen the size of the village swell to that of a small town, and a second inn, The Archers, is now under construction.
